Real estate is a constantly changing business.  The extent to which the internet has impacted this and many businesses is extreme.  Searching for a home or trying to sell a home is much more about looking at the market not just in terms of individual towns, but as a reagional market.

While at one time it was good enough to be the "expert" in a couple of towns, now being a great Realtor is about knowing how to apply knowledge and a special set of skills to a wide variety of towns.
